Date Night

A few weeks back, Dave and I decided to make a night of it and head out to a local wine bar. For a mere $65, we were able to try two wine flights (adding up to 2 or 3 glasses, total) and three cheeses and the usual accompaniments (nutswhich I couldnt eat because of my nut allergyjam, and bread).

It was a fun night out, but we really thought we could do better on our own for the money. So last Friday when we got home from work, I took a quick trip to Whole Foods where I picked up a few organic gala apples, some aged gouda, and fresh organic dates. Set up with some fig jam and small crackers we already had at home and a bottle of Malbec from a recent trip to Paso Robles wine country, we spent less (about $36, but with no tip to leave and a whole bottle of wine instead of a glass each), got more, and I actually got to try everything on the plate.
